Dave has written a 3 book fantasy series called “The Demon Curse” which discovers the fantastical demon society and how they interact with the human world. You will be surprised at the nature of a nursery in the demon world. Find out more in this installment.
Dave may or may not know that I am posting a portion of the book per week. I post an installment once a week (until I get caught) so without further ado, I give you the tenth installment of The Demon Curse Series Book #1 entitled “Son of Ruin” written by David E. Hiatt.

Chapter 3 Establishing Order Installment 10
He would have stood in the cauldron contemplating his situation longer, but there were more yearlings to summon.
The large demon with thick red arms stood nearby whose job was to clear the cauldron so the ceremony could continue. He walked towards Succubus and reached for the back of his neck. Instinctively Succubus ducked, avoiding his hand, and in the same movement, jumped out onto the hard, rocky ground. He quickly moved several paces away.
Surprised, the large brute turned and looked at him, then thrust his large hand towards him. At first Succubus thought he was trying to reach for him again, even though he had moved far enough away to avoid his grasp. Then he heard the air in front of him pop and was suddenly hit by a blast of wind that seemed to originate from the big demon’s hand. He found himself tumbling head over heels backwards across the rock. Scraped and bruised, he slammed into the crowd behind.
Those around him seized Succubus roughly and forced him to his feet, shoving him back towards the large demon who did not miss this time when he grabbed him by the neck.
The brute's hands were like a vice. He half dragged him to an area on the side of the cauldron where other pitiful, little demons huddled together, away from where the Ten Demon Lords waited to continue the ceremony.
From his new location, Succubus watched as the whole process began again. The gathered horde chanted and the Ten once again moved slowly and rhythmically around the metal pot.
Blood of kindred,
flesh of stone,
spawn of darkness,
forged in heat,
enter...
son of ruin.
Asag again stepped forward and whispered, "Elisheth," and another yearling arrived in the cauldron. This time there was no bang, nor did the demon stand. Succubus could only hear a faint whimpering.

The large demon removed a scrawny, bloody form from the cauldron and dropped it next to Succubus. This was repeated many times.
There you have it. The tenth piece of the book. Let me know if you enjoyed this, want more, or anything else I can do to make it easier to read.
