Chapter 5 Solomon Installment 24

With sure hands from years of experience, Nurse Bern wrapped up the baby in a towel, cooing to him, and laid him in his mother’s arms. She cradled him and looked down into those clear blue eyes staring into hers. The child had curly blond hair and a face that had a wise look about it. Even though a newborn infant, the baby seemed to envelope his mother with his gaze. The moment was so profound that it made all her other accomplishments seem miniscule in comparison. He seemed completely at peace, and it made him feel that all the future planning he spent his time on might just be wasted and pointless. He couldn’t remember the day’s stock report or what he had been reading about future economic indicators. He felt like the anchor he had tethered his life to had been released. He was hovering in an unknown space.
