Food Of The Underworld Revealed: Find Out Here
What would you eat in the fantastical world of demons? Well, Dave has written a 3 book fantasy series called “The Demon Curse” that will describe the cuisine of the underworld to you. This riveting series is full of insights that ring true to life in this world. Truly an enjoyable read.
Now Dave may not know that I am posting a portion of the book per week. I post an installment once a week, so without further ado, I give you the thirteenth (wait, does that make it unlucky?) installment of The Demon Curse Series Book #1 entitled “Son of Ruin” written by David E. Hiatt.

Chapter 3 Establishing Order Installment 13
Succubus and the others spent the next few weeks in the cavern near the Summoning area. Normally, the old, bent demon Bune brought them food to eat twice a day and they slept on slabs of rock raised from the floor. Succubus had chosen an area of the cave set back and away from the others.
One day, a different demon brought the sack of roots. He was thin with a rounded face and sloping eyes. His horns sloped away from his head as well and his shoulders hunched over his bent neck. He moved slowly with the bag of roots, taking small, careful steps. He was leaning forward as if he were about to fall on his face.
You would think he would move faster, going everywhere downhill like he does. Succubus thought to himself.
“I am Ansu,” said the demon. “I told Bune I would deliver the roots to the yearlings today.”
Succubus had been pondering the power structure in the demon world. Apparently, this Ansu was over the scruffy looking Bune. Not surprising, as Ansu was dressed nicer and seemed to be even older.
Everyone has a boss, someone above them, Succubus thought. All except Asag, no one gives him commands. A benefit of being the most powerful, he supposed. He didn’t want to end up at the bottom with a life like the old, scruffy looking Bune.
Ansu dumped the bag and stood to the side, rocking back and forth, watching as the small demons dug through the pile of roots.

Being bigger than the others, Succubus could have shoved his way in and grabbed the best for himself, but he felt no need. It didn’t seem to matter what he chose, they all tasted equally bitter. He waited on his bunk while the others scrabbled for their share.
The old demon seemed pleased by Succubus’ patience.
There you have it. The thirteenth piece of the book. Let me know if you enjoyed this, want more, or anything else I can do to make it easier to read.
