
Underrated Places to Go in Utah When You Don’t Want to Be Around People
With warm weather and sports leagues the weekend treks to Southern Utah cause traffic up and down the freeway. Makes you exhausted. Here are some places you can get away too this spring that will give you a sense of peace.
Delano Peak in the Tushar Mountains
The second highest peak in Utah is in the Tushar Mountains in the center part of the state. You can get to this mountain range by driving up Beaver Canyon. Turn at the sign for Big John Flat. Be mindful there is still snow in the springtime.
The peak stands at 12,169 feet and gives you amazing views across the state. This is an aggressive hike that will take a good part of the day, but even if you don’t hike the peak, the area is quiet and beautiful with all kinds of animals including mountain goats.
Bundyville on the Arizona Strip
The Arizona Strip is not for the faint of heart. It features dirt roads with rocks that can flatten a tire but there is plenty of solitude. There is a former settlement named Bundyville that had a one room schoolhouse.
The school has been restored and gives you an idea what it was like to live in this town that once had 250 people. The 60 miles it takes to visit will in this rugged part of the west will give you an appreciation for those who have gone before.
Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
The National Parks are beautiful, but not always peaceful with all of the visitors. This National Monument in the southern part of the state has similar massive rock formations offering solid beauty and you can have them to yourself.
Depending on where you go you can find trails with elevated water falls, arches, narrow canyons, even ghost towns. Just driving through the natural wonders with the windows down and the sounds of the birds makes life seem less hectic.

In Utah, there are places all around that will get you back to a peaceful place. Next weekend head away from the cars and restaurants and go to a place where the rocks can speak quiet to you.
