A new ranking from WalletHub may have more Americans planning a summer road trip through the state of Utah. On a list of states with the best road-rip destinations, the beehive state landed at number two on the list.

Breathtaking Scenery: National and State Parks

What is it about Utah that set it so high on the list? There is a lot of great scenery to see with five national parks and some amazing scenery to get there. There are also plenty of amazing state parks that don't get the crowds of the national ones.

One of the surprising details from the report is where Utah hands on the number of theme parks and amusement parks putting the state at seventh in the nation for the number per capita.

Smooth Sailing: Well-Maintained Highways

If you are taking a road trip, the road part is pretty important. Utah has well maintained highways that make it easy to cruise. Factor in affordable accommodations and gas prices that aren't crazy high and it makes for good driving.

Last of all, Utah is a safe place to visit. Not a lot of car thefts or robberies taking place, especially in the small towns between all of the natural beauty. The roads are also safer with fewer accidents, the fourth lowest in the nation.
