Japanese culture is popular right now in the United States. Anime shows have captured attention and there is a fascination with all things Japanese. Now there’s a plan to bring a certain kind of food from this country to an unusual place. 

Convenience Store Has 22,000 Japanese Locations 

7-Eleven began in the United States, but it now has far more locations in Japan. They also have many fresh food options in those stores. These include egg salad sandwiches to a rice ball combined with tuna.

It has become popular on social media to travel to Japan and share a video shopping and sampling the fresh food offered at the convenience store. Executives of 7-Eleven have taken notice and are planning to bring some of the options to U.S. locations. 

Will U.S. Consumers Flock in for Strawberries & Cream Sandwich? 

In Japan people work hard and often don’t spend time at home cooking. They visit convenience stores multiple times a day for a quick bite or to get ingredients for a simple meal at home. Will this model in this country work in America? 

In the U.S. we use convenience stores mostly for snacks. We don’t usually think of stopping to get gas and a meal, though this has begun to change. For this reason, 7-Eleven isn’t planning to bring everything from Japan to their North America locations.

Still, it will soon be a lot easier to get some of what has been only available across the ocean. If they do it right, it could fold in nicely with the fervor for all things Japanese going on right now.
