There is a new place to eat in St. George that is serving up all kinds of smoked meats. It is Borens Smokehouse and is now open in the Shoppes at Zion. Here's what I found when I visited recently for dinner.

Plenty of Tender Meat Options

This new restaurant serving up barbecue is in the former location of Green Iguana. As you walk in, it has the look and smells of a place that knows how to cook some meat and they have all that you would expect.

There is brisket, three kinds of sausage, pork, burnt ends, and barbecue ribs. They also have burgers and sliders. The sides are plentiful and include mac n' cheese, smoked beans, and coleslaw. They are known for their banana pudding.

Tasting the Difference: Sides and Signature Desserts

I had the potato salad hillbilly style which means they put baked beans on top. It was really good. For meat I got the sausage. It was juicy and cooked just right, but I wish I had gone with the jalapeño as I think I wanted more spice.

My wife got the barbecue pork and it was really good. Tender and the sauce was amazing. The sides were made just like you expect them. Mac n' cheese was cheesy and the coleslaw had just the right tanginess.

Borens Smokehouse first opened in Richfield and this is their second location. I was very happy with the portion size and the taste of the barbecue. I plan on returning to try some of their burgers. Overall a really good addition to the Southern Utah food scene.

LOOK: The most famous actress born the same year as you

Many of the actresses in this story not only made a name for themselves through their collection of iconic performances, but also through the selfless, philanthropic nature with which many of them approached their stardom. In an age of flipping the script on societal norms, many of these actresses are using their voices and platforms to be advocates for those who are otherwise unheard.
