The Best Conditions for Comet Gazing 

There is a comet approaching earth that will be closest on October 12th. Tsuchinshan Atlas, which you can call A3 for short, will be visible in the night sky as it approaches our planet and zooms by. However, it is not something you can casually glance up and see like the moon. 

Forbes describes the best conditions to see the comet and it is what you would assume. The darker the night sky, the easier it will be to see. You will want to get away from city lights for your best viewing. On their list of best locations to view A3, seven of them are in Utah. 

We Have No Excuse  

If you live in Utah and miss the comet in the night sky, you only have yourself to blame. Here is where they say to go for the dark sky experience in the beehive state: 

The National Parks:

Specifically, they list Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands and Arches National Park. As a bonus, the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Great Basin in Nevada are also on the list and very close.

Hovenweep National Monument and Natural Bridges National Monument are both listed in Utah. Fremont Indian State Park is also on the list of best places to see the A3 comet.

Looking at these group you can probably think of hundreds of other great places to go to see the comet in the night sky. You might want to rent one of those yurts that are popping up by Zion and other locations and sleep under the night sky while the fiery comet passes.
