Zion Canyon Is About to Get More Crowded In A Good Way
How could more crowds in Zion Canyon be a good thing?
The Los Angeles Zoo has just broken its own record with 17 adorable California condor chicks hatching this year, surpassing their previous record of 15 set in 1997. The final chick hatched last month, and they're all doing well. Each of these precious birds is a candidate for release into the wild as part of the California Condor Recovery Program.
Soon, these magnificent creatures will likely spread their wings and I would assume some of them will join the flocks in Zion National Park, the Vermillion Cliffs, or the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. Why would I think that? Because Utah already has thriving flocks of California Condors in these parks.
So how are we going to welcome these birds when they come?
How about some rad overpriced cramped condor condos since they are native to California, they might appreciate tight housing.
Anyone up for a little bumper to bumper or tail to beak traffic? Nothing brings the native Californians comfort like having a 1-hour trip take 5 hours.

We could put in some amusement parks or a beach.
Any way we do it, it is going to be exciting to see the California Condor flocks grow in our area. I hope that the little chicks thrive and find a place in our state. Not that there aren't other places for them to land, but if we play our cards right, they just might choose Utah.
