Olympic Event Featuring the Most Utah Athletes 

There are many competitors with ties to Utah in the Olympics taking place in Paris. So, here’s the question. If you are looking to see these athletes, what event will give you the biggest bang for your buck? What sport has the most with a beehive state association? 

KSL breaks down each sport and the Utah competitors. The 3x3 basketball events have four players that spent time in Utah, the most prominent being Jimmer Fredette. Rugby has three players. Soccer is a big deal with five athletes. 

This Relatively New Event Will Feature Utah

The second highest number of Utah athletes competing is in Sport Climbing taking place on Aug 5th. This sport made its first showing in 2020 at the Tokyo Olympics and has expanded for this year in Paris.  

It will include boulder-and-lead combined as well as speed. And here’s the important information, there are eight athletes competing with ties to Utah. Our chances of a Utah medal are good here. 

The Sport Where Utah Shines 

Track and Field is the sport you want to watch with 12 competitors with ties to Utah. With BYU's success the last five years, they have pumped many runners into the Olympics. Southern Utah, U of U, and Utah State have also contributed an athlete each.

Track and Field will take place Aug 1-11 and it is on my calendar. I may even paint my face the colors of the Utah flag for the event. Probably the old flag as it would be easier to just do blue.
