It isn't new to see Southern Utah fill up with athletes in town to play in tournaments that are taking advantage of the temperate weather. A sport you may not think about coming has found its way to this desert oasis will big time starting in October.

Enhancing the Experience: Upgraded Mountain Bike Trails

Significant work has been done on some of the mountain bike trails in and around Washington County. This is shy the events are coming to take advantage of these new and reworked trails. You can see what has been done in Macrae Helppler's video.

Cliff Rose is at the base of Pine Valley and has been improved and lengthened. When it is finished it will have 33 miles of trail and will feature a trailhead with parking and bathrooms.

Room for Upcoming Racing Events: A Must for Mountain Bike Enthusiasts

West Mountain is located on BLM land and has been improved on trails that were already there. This will also have trailheads at both ends and will feature some great downhill for mountain bikers.

The last is Desert Color which is out by the airport. It is built for racing and will be the location of a race featuring a couple thousand athletes. The trailhead will be off River Rd and will have plenty of room for big races to take place.

The three races are the Cliff Rose Regional coming October 3rd which is for high school riders from all over the state. 2500 riders will arrive from around Utah on October 23rd and 24th and will race at Desert Color.

Then November 14th and 15th a race the Western Regional this time bringing 2500 racers from all over the country to experience Desert Color. It isn't new to have athletes come for tournaments in Southern Utah, but these mountain bike races are all new.
