Is a snowboard legend a good trade for a bunch of movies stars? Utah lost the Sundance Film Festival during January, but a new Snowboard League introduced by Shaun White is coming next year during those dates.

A Thrilling Competition: What to Expect from the Snowboard League

This is a three-day competition that will bring the world’s best athletes to compete in the halfpipe and other snowboarding events. The purpose of the league is to create a venue featuring world class head-to-head matchups that fans can come watch.

This fits perfectly with the Park City area and creates the kind of atmosphere Utah is looking for leading up to the 2034 Olympics. I know I don’t speak for everyone’s tastes, but this is something I would rather attend over sitting in a dark theatre.

Nurturing Future Talent: Shaun White's Vision for Young Athletes

Shaun White describes his vision for the league as a place where budding talent can learn and move through the sport to become a professional and even Olympians. Building youth into something better sounds like the kind of thing Utah can get behind.

The first competition with take place January 22-24 next year. Between now and then a halfpipe and other snowboarding venues will be constructed. This is a good thing for Utahns and Olympians who will have another option to train.
