BYU And U of U Basketball Teams Will Play on LED-lit Glass Court During Big 12 Tournament
BYU and University of Utah basketball teams will be playing on the latest court technology when the Big 12 tournament starts in March. This is a court that can change its look with the touch on a tablet.
Transforming the Game: The LED Glass Court Experience
ASB Glass Floor is a company that has developed a basketball court for the Orlando Magic of the NBA. The one portrayed in this video is a court used in their practice facility. It is made of glass with LED lights below the surface.
This makes it like a giant electronic billboard that is the size of a basketball court. It can look like any court you want with any logo, even down to the color of the wood and the pattern the slats make.
Cutting-Edge Technology Good for Coaches and Big 12 Tournament
For coaches it takes the I-Pad they design plays on and shows it directly on the court. A play can be shown right on the surface. Picture the coach drawing circles where he wants each player to stand, and they can literally go stand in the circles.
The conference that BYU and the University of Utah play in has announced they will be using this technology for the Big 12 tournament. This court can even entertain fans during time outs. Someday the court might be more exciting than the actual game.
