The Smoked Taco Lives Up to Its Name

I tried the new eatery that has opened up on St. George Boulevard that serves up specialty tacos. It’s called the Smoked Taco and has other locations in northern Utah. As the name implies, this isn’t what you first think of in a taco.

Sure, there’s a taco shell, but from there, the tastes branch out. There are smoked meats like brisket, chicken and pork with sauces and vegetables that create a fusion of flavors. The extensive menu offers all kinds of options.

I took my family, and we tried the OG with pork, slaw and peppers. The Gringo with some brisket, jalapeños and fried onion. The Bang Bang with shrimp, guac and pico. All of these come with their own sauce that sets it off in a delicious way.

Price Didn’t Empty My Wallet

The price isn’t bad. Each taco is around $4.95 and two will satisfy most people. We also got the chips and queso and I had to try the elote. It was all very good and reasonably priced. That was five tacos with three drinks and the chips and corn for just under $40.00

The atmosphere at the Smoked Taco is fun and inviting and the service was fast and friendly. I think this is a really good addition to the St. George food scene and I can see why they have found success up north.

I was a little worried about it being hot as I am a pansy, but the spice was just right. I plan on visiting again soon and trying some of the other tacos like the Fleeing Californian with tri-tip.
