
Secondhand War Prophecy From Joseph Smith Sounds Eerily Like Current Events in Chicago
President Trump recently brought in the army reserve to help clean up Washington DC. He has looked at doing the same in other cities. The President has proposed bringing troops to Chicago to help stop the violence happening there.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker along with Mayor of Chicago do not want the President to send troops to their city. They already oppose ICE raids, and they warn that sending troops in could is against the constitution and could increase conflict.
This article from the Chicago Sun Times details the situation in the windy city. A professor who studies crime statistics warns that federal troops would clash with armed gang members and things could get out of hand.

Increasing Conflict in Chicago Sounds Eerily like Old Prophecy
In Utah, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hold the founder of the church, Joseph Smith, as a prophet. Joseph lived in the 1800s and made many predictions about the future of the United States and the world.
One obscure secondhand account of the prophet making such a prediction comes from a letter from Nephi Packard to A. Milton Musser from July 24, 1896. In it Packard describes a war that will consume the United States and will begin in Chicago.
My brother, Noah Packard, says that he heard the Prophet Joseph say that the next great war after the war of the rebellion would commence in a little town now called Chicago, but at that time it would have grown to be a very large city.

He goes on to say the trouble will begin because U.S. currency will be greatly depreciated. With all that is happening in Chicago, it sounds uncomfortably possible.
