Will Sugar Loving Utah Munch Down These New Zero Desserts Coming To Store Shelves?
Sodas that offer zero sugar with a taste that is close to the fully loaded version have grown in popularity. Now the zero products are making their way into ice cream and cookies. We love our sweets in Utah, and this sounds like good news.
The Difference Between Diet and Zero
When it comes to soda, zero sugar drinks use less aspartame and combine it with acesulfame potassium to get closer to the original drink’s taste. For people trying to avoid sugar but don’t like the taste of diet drinks, this proved to be an option.
In the last few decades, diet drinks have became popular especially with women. This is good for having a loyal following that purchases those drinks. It is not good if you want to expand sugarless drinks to men and younger consumers.
This is where zero sodas come in. No need to lose your current fans when you can just develop a new sounding version with a slightly different taste. Zero sodas are gaining in popularity and this solution is working well.
New Products Have Added a Zero Sugar Line
Noting the success of the drinks, there are now ice cream brands adding zero to the label and providing a taste similar to regular sugary options. I have tried these and they are a good tasting alternative.
The latest to jump on the trend is Oreo cookies. They are offering the original and double stuff cookies with zero sugar starting in January 2026. They use different sweeteners than aspartame that mimic the taste we are familiar with.
