Food Review of New Mexican Restaurant in St. George That is Making Its Return

Aimar’s Mexican Food is now open at 20 N Main in St. George. This is a new name, but they offered their tacos and salsa before as La Cocina. If you enjoyed their food in the past, you will be excited to see Aimar’s open up. 

Authentic Street Tacos and Other Mexican Favorites 

I had a couple of street tacos along with chips and salsa. They have a large selection of meats to choose from. I selected one steak and one pollo. These street tacos are tasty with corn tortillas, and I put some of the delicious salsa on top. 

The meat was well seasoned and was good dripping with salsa. What I enjoyed about their previous location was the fresh food and it still tastes like it was just made. It seems like they cater more to online orders, at least in the midday when I was there. 

When I visited it was an hour before lunch time and there were a lot of people picking up orders to go. The dining area isn’t overly decorated, but the restaurant was spotless. 

How the Restaurant Stacks Up with Lots of Local Mexican Food Options 

I enjoy Mexican Food and Southern Utah has many restaurants serving it. Aimar’s offers Mexican dishes that lean more to the authentic side with traditional dishes including burritos, tacos, and nachos.  

Places like Lamy’s and Angelica’s lean into regions of Mexican cuisine that you don’t always get and are fun to explore. Aimar’s is closer to what you expect Mexican food while giving you an authentic feel.

Overall, I enjoyed the food. If you liked La Cocina, you will happy to see their new name and new location.
