With the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. As the Secretary of Health and Human Services there has been a lot of talk about healthy food in the news. This focus on possible problems with what's in there has people downloading a new app. 

Yuka App Scans Food Items and Suggests Healthy Alternatives 

RFK said they will phase out synthetic dyes from the nation's food supply. These food colorings are petroleum based and are said to be dangerous to children’s health. But this is just the tip of a bigger problem with chemicals in food.

With all of the news about America’s food supply, an app named Yuka makes it easy to scan food item in a grocery store and see what is in it and it give the product a rating. It also offers a healthier alternative.

The app is free to download, and it says it is independent of any company or product that would influence the information. RFK has also recommended it and says he uses it.  As you can imagine downloads have been high. 

Free App is Altering People’s Food Choices 

Using the App, many have found their favorite food choices aren’t as healthy as they thought. This is changing the products being bought in real time. The more this trend grows you can expect to see companies making changes to what the food contains.

I love the information that is available with this app. I would imagine there are many who would like to compromise how it works. Hopefully it can stay independent of influence, and it could become a driver of change to healthier food.
