The Rise of Electrolyte Drinks

Drink packets containing electrolytes have become popular to add to water. It has become a big industry with influencers touting the latest product to boost hydration. Many of these contain additional vitamins along with the electrolytes.

However, taking in too much of these can lead to toxicity. It is called Hypervitaminosis and can cause health problems of its own. Too much vitamin B6 can have neurolgic effects including painful tingling and numbness of the skin.

Understanding Hypervitaminosis

This can happen when you are taking multiple products that are supplying B6 as a supplement. It is called stacking. If you are adding a drink mix on top of this, especially multiple times a day, it can get to be too much for your body.

It is easy to see how this could occur with people you know and influencers going on about these products and the importance of staying hydrated. You think if one electrolyte drink mix is good, maybe you should add another in the afternoon.
