More Gen Z Young Men Report Being Religious Then Young Women

There is something that is happening in churches throughout the country that has never been seen before. More young men are attending church than young women. It is a phenomenon that has been noted by church goers and reported recently by the New York Times.

Survey Center on American Life reports how Gen Z feels about religion. In their latest survey the boys responded with a 9% higher religious affiliation than girls. This is exactly what many religious leaders have noticed in their congregations.

For the first generation in history, men are more religious than women. The survey data is clear. 51% of Gen Z girls say they have no religious affiliation, compared to 42% of Gen Z boys: a startling 9-point difference.

They list possible reasons for this divide. Mostly they are political, with more women unhappy with social issues the churches take a stand on.

What Is Happening in Utah?

In a survey of current and former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, they found that millennials had a higher percentage who were dissociated with the church than was seen in past generations.

However, Gen Z didn’t show that disparity. They were more like generations of the past with those remaining dedicated to the church and those who are leaving. I couldn’t find any information on a divide between young men and young women in the survey.

It is interesting that they are seeing these young men lead out in going to church in other parts of the country and will be interesting to see if that happens as well in Utah.

Celebrities Who Found Religion

The glitz and glam of fame may appear to be the good life. However, dealing with the trials and tribulations of life all while in the spotlight for the world to see can be a heavy weight to bear. While this is an obstacle all celebrities face, many of our favorite actors, singers and other celebrities have turned to religion to help cope with the pressure of celebrity and find their inner faith.
