St. George’s ‘Dixie Little League’ ONE WIN From Little League World Series!
Tuesday night, August 6th, I'm watching the Olympics when I see that Little League Baseball is on ESPN. Every summer, I love watching Little League Baseball. It's pure. It's fun. It brings me back to when I played Little League. But this time was a little different. Our very own Dixie Little League was on ESPN2 taking on a team from Boulder, Colorado. I haven't heard much about the Dixie Little League team this year, as the Snow Canyon Little League is usually the team we hear most about!
DIXIE PUTS ON A WHOOPIN!
As I turn the game on, I see the score. Dixie is ABSOLUTELY destroying the Colorado team! Dixie beat Colorado 16-2, launching them into the Championship game on Friday in San Bernardino, California. Going into the last inning, Dixie was throwing a no-hitter! This game was pretty impressive, maybe even more impressive than their previous game against Wyoming! They beat Wyoming 19-5! In both of their games, Dixie has outscored Wyoming and Colorado 35-7. This team is LEGIT!
DIXIE WAITS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP!
After the smackdown that Dixie put on this week, they'll wait until Friday to take on the winner Nevada and Colorado. If Dixie wins on Friday, they will punch their ticket to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This will be the first time that Dixie Little League has made it to Williamsport, and only the second time that a Utah team makes it to the Little League World Series. Snow Canyon Little League was the first team to accomplish this in 2022, but was unable to win a game in Pennsylvania.
Southern Utah's eyes will be hoping for the best and rooting for the boys from Dixie as they play Friday against Colorado or Nevada at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 9th.
