Chapter 12 Overthrown by Fire 77

Borgin turned to the rock slate behind him. “As you know, fire acts like plasma. Plasma has different properties than air, which is a gas.”

Succubus watched as he wrote a formula for plasma. He then showed them how it can act with wave like properties.

“Air is full of frantic energy, whereas the energy in the flame, while still active, moves in a more uniform way. When you feed the flame with a gas like oxygen, it ignites the fire and increases it exponentially.”

Raising his hand, Borgin formed the air as he had described. He willed it in a way that created a portion of low pressure then blasted it forward into the burning flame. Immediately the air ignited, and the ball fire burst forward, heating the cavern.

Not that different from the twister torch I was making, thought Succubus.

A Non-Impressed Teacher

When Borgin gave them time to practice, Succubus quickly mastered the fire ball as he had worked on this in the tunnel not that long ago. Borgin eyed his progress resentfully.

All the demons in the room were manipulating the air into the form they had been shown. The cave became a mass of heated air.

“Enough,” shouted Borgin. The wind in the room ceased and he rose to stand in front of the class, a malicious look in his eyes. “As usual, you have shown yourselves to be less than adequate students of the demon arts.” He glared at Succubus as he said this. “I will now demonstrate how one can use this technique to curse another.”
