Cars Catching Fire: Utah Should Pay Attention to Recall

Recommended to Park This Vehicle Outside in Case of Fire 

A consumer alert and a recall has been issued for almost half a million vehicles sold in the United States because a chance of it catching on fire. They say to park it outside and away from other vehicles until it can be repaired. 

There seems like there are always recalls taking place, but I pay more attention when it involves something burning. In the report it says the problem is in the front seat motor that can get stuck and could result in it overheating and catching on fire. This recall is for 2020-2024 Kia Telluride Vehicles. 

What to Do If the Recall Applies to You 

The problem can be easily fixed by taking it into the dealer who will replace the cover that causes the knob to malfunction. They will begin sending direct recall notices to owners of the vehicles starting July 30. 

There have been reports of six fires so far and none resulted in any crashes or fatalities. If you have one of these vehicles and would like more information, you can call the Car Care Center for Kia at 800-333-4542.

The report recommends affected vehicles be parked outside of the garage and away from other vehicles just in case. I don't think I have ever heard of a recommendation like that before.

With Utah in the fire season, let's include on the list not parking it anywhere near fields with dry brush.
