Utah’s Best Picnic Spot is Spectacular But Has One Drawback
The picnic has had a resurgence of popularity in the last couple years. People have rediscovered the joy of grabbing some good food and finding a picturesque place to eat outdoors where you can talk and the kids can run around.
Utah’s Best Picnic Place is in a National Park
Taste of Home compiled a list of the best picnic places in every state and not surprisingly, Utah’s is in one of the 5 National Parks in the beehive state. Specifically it is in Arche’s National Park at Devil's Garden.
This is a designated area set aside for picnics. You can enjoy your tasty food with a great view of the arches and spires of the park. The only drawback I can see is the fee to get in. There are plenty of other great locations in Utah that don’t require a pass.
The checkered blanket and basket were good for Yogi Bear, but you don't need it. In fact, getting take out from a restaurant that you pick up on the way is a great way to go.
Here’s What a Good Picnic Place Should Have
When picking out a place to hold your picnic there are some things to look for. A table is always helpful. Having some shade trees can make things more pleasant and it needs to be safe for kids to run around. Be wary of fast moving water.
Any area with a campground usually has everything you need. ABC 4 lists some excellent locations for picnics throughout the state. Fish Lake and Snow Canyon are some great suggestions for the southern parts.

Picnics are great in the fall when the weather starts to cool down. Even if the kids are obnoxious, you won’t notice in the outdoors like you would in a fancy restaurant. Get some people you like together, assign food items to each, and head for the hills.
