How Fourth Graders In Utah Can Get Into National Parks Free

In 2015 to recognize the celebration of 100 ears of the park service, the United States Government came up with a program to get kids outdoors and visiting the parks. President Obama signed a bill that allows all fourth-grader and their families an all access pass.

Unlocking Nature: The Every Kid Outdoors Pass

This means that every fourth grader in Utah can apply for a pass that lets them explore the nation's parks all year long. This includes the five National Parks in Utah and all the rest spread throughout the nation.

Why is this set aside just for this age of kids? This is an important stage in development where a child might find joy outdoors or get locked into their cell phone. Visiting the beauty in the outdoors can inspire a love of the outdoors that will last a lifetime.

It is also the grade where many schools begin to focus on history of the states and how the nation was formed. A real life visit to historic sites can enhance the curricula they are learning in school.
