U.S. News & World Report releases the best states ranking every year. Utah was number one in 2024. That was because the state was high in fiscal stability, education, infrastructure and at number three in the nation for the economy.
This strong foundation portends good things for the coming months to build on. In March the 2025 Economic Report to the Governor was released. Digging into this information it is interesting to see where the growth is happening.
Extracting Oil Hit Record Highs and Is Poised to Continue Growing
Utah’s crude oil production reached 65 million barrels in 2024 and is projected to continue increasing through 2026. With the election of President Trump there is greater focus on producing energy in the United States. Utah is poised to deliver in this direction.
A loosening of government regulations and willingness to invest by Utah’s government will see this industry continue to grow. Most of the oil in Utah is found in Uintah Basin located in the eastern part of the state.
