Chapter 7 Learning to Curse Installment 41
“I will now demonstrate how to pummel an opponent using just the air,” said Borgin.
He raised his hand and Succubus lowered his shoulder as a blast of air pushed him backwards. This time he did not fall over the bench but instead sat down hard on it. He stayed there with his head bowed.
Understanding Air Pressure and Displacement
“As you can see even the largest, most talentless rock can be moved by something as insubstantial as the air around you,” said Borgin. “But what you need to understand is that I did not push him over by shoving air from my hand. I used the concepts of air pressure and air displacement to release the potential energy contained in the gas. My understanding of science and energy, and how to transfer them through my will, brought about the result.”

Succubus moved to his place on the bench in the middle of the classroom, pondering what his teacher had said and demonstrated.
What does he mean he didn't shove the air from his hand?
He had felt the impact of the air pushing him backward.
Borgin again raised his hand facing the class.
“When sending a gust of air, one merely applies an understanding of gases. I concentrate on the air directly in front of that which I wish to impact.” He indicated the space between him and the students. “Using my willpower, I increase the energy in the molecules, causing them to increase in speed, and therefore increasing the number of collisions. This expands the gas and lowers the density of this section of air.”
