Chapter 7 Learning to Curse Installment 40
First, he taught them to identify the different energy they felt around them. “Raise your hands in the air,” said Borgin. Succubus and the others brought their right hands up. “Move your hand backwards and forwards. Feel the air move past.”
All the students were now waving. “Now concentrate and feel the energy there.”
As Succubus concentrated, he discovered he could feel more than just the air on his skin, he could sense the individual molecules. They skirted around his hand in a haphazard and frantic dance, but he could sense the energy that animated it.
Air is a Chaotic Gas
“As you have learned, air is a gas and in a diffused state. These molecules are constantly colliding with each other. These collisions build up potential kinetic energy.”

Succubus pictured the molecules slamming into each other. They had learned that the higher the temperature, the greater the number of collisions and the gas would expand.
“When you can feel the energy,” said Borgin, “the next step is to use your will to organize it, to master it. As you do, you will be able to direct it to curse others.”
A Volunteer?
Here Borgin paused and looked at the class, “Who would like to volunteer?”
The students in the room stared at the floor. Borgin smiled, “Succubus step forward."
He had learned to sit in the middle of the other students as a protective barrier and now Succubus rose warily and moved to the front of the class. He stood with his feet apart, bracing for what would come next. The demons behind him moved to the sides of the room, out of the way.
