Have you been collecting pennies? Depending on when the penny was made, it might be worth triple its value. Well, that's not a lot when you are talking about a 1¢ as you will need a lot to make it worth it.

Copper Value May Continue to Rise

A penny made after 1982 have more zinc than copper in it. You can tell by the brightness of the coin. You can also tell how much copper is in a penny by weighing it. One with 95% zinc will be around 2.53 ounces while copper will be 3.01.

You can sell your pennies online for the value of the copper rather than turning them into a coin counting machine. Before you take this step, you should check to see if any of the pennies have a glitch or a misprint.

There are many pennies that came off the mint with a flaw that are worth some cash. Not every one will buy you a new car, but they might pay your heat bill. There are many sites showing what pennies are most valuable.

People are Hoarding the 2025 Penny

2025 is the last year pennies will be minted. This has people grabbing up rolls of pennies made this year. If you have a roll of the humble 1¢ coins with 2025 on them, you might want to hold on to them for now.

The U.S. decided it was time to retire the penny as it cost more to make them than they were worth. And at this point, most people aren't walking around with change in their pocket anyway.

Of course, when you stop making something that has been around for 230 years, taking it away is bound to make it more valuable.
