How To Get Big 12 Schools To Hate Utah Football
Big 12 Fans and the University of Utah
College football has been a roller coaster ride for the last decade. The University of Utah looked like it would be safe in the PAC 12 until that league imploded with USC and UCLA leaving for the Big Ten. With the Big 12 reeling from losing Texas and Oklahoma, they offered a place for Utah.
This association hasn’t been a good one so far. In fact, if you have followed the transition on social media, fans of other Big 12 schools seem to have soured on having the Utes in the league. There was even a petition by a West Virginia fan asking to have them booted.
What Caused the Big 12 Animosity Towards University of Utah Fans?
Some of this souring came from Utah’s reluctance to join the conference as they hoped an invite would come from the SEC or Big Ten. The prediction that Utah would dominate in football probably didn’t help either.
Utah never seemed too happy about competing in the conference. This was highlighted after the game between BYU and the University of Utah when the AD, Mark Harlan, said he was no longer excited to be in the Big 12.
How Much Has This Fan Account on X Had on Angering Other Big 12 Schools?
The Utah Pig Bus is an account on X that cheers for the Utes. After the game with BYU they had this post:What follows was many replies from fan accounts from other schools in the Big 12 that Utah fans brought this upon themselves. There are several others that go on to say this one account shows too much arrogance and that it is the main reason they are sick of Utah.
Some Utah fans in the responses agreed with the sentiment. Go Utes said, "Dude, this is in part due to you being inflammatory for months. You were the leader of it." There were others who blamed the few in the fanbase for tainting the rest.

Could this be true? Could one fan account have that big of an effect on how a team is perceived? It seems possible.
The Pig Bus often posts fanatically rabid statements that get a lot of interaction and reposting's. I wouldn't say they are the sole reason Big 12 schools increasingly resent the Utes, but they might be a fairly big factor.
