Hotel & Restaurant Near Grand Canyon is 200 Feet Below the Surface
Just over the line from Utah in the state of Arizona are some massive caverns that just reopened for tours. Not only can you walk through the huge caves, you can spend the night in the deepest hotel in the nation.
New Owners of the Grand Canyon Caverns Opens for Tours
Near the Hualapai Indian Reservation in Arizona in a town named Peach Springs are some giant caves with a long history. A guy named Walter Peck stumbled into a hole back in 1927 and discovered a large cave underground that he thought was filled with gold.
Turns out the gold was just rust, and he started charging a quarter for tours. Since that time the caverns have been explored, and the experience includes an elevator to take you down. It might just the cool adventure to take in a hot summer.
New Owners Open the Caverns Again to Visitors
The place was shut down in 2022 when the elevator broke and stranded visitors in the cavern. Since then, it has been purchased and run by the Havasupai Tribe. The elevator has been repaired and everything else upgraded.
You can stay at the Grand Canyon Cavern Inn and eat at the restaurant there, or if you are more adventurous, they offer the deepest hotel in the nation. This room is deep, dark, and quiet. There’s a television, two beds, but no Wi-Fi. There are DVD’s and books to read.

There is also the Crystal Restaurant where you can eat with views of the caverns all around you. Sounds like a one of a kind experience. It might be time to get away to some where far below the surface.
