Forgotten Cereals From the ’80s and ’90s In Utah

It is always fun to compare with friends the way you grew up. It is even more fun to commiserate with siblings about all you faced from your parents. There is no better way to find out about someone’s childhood than seeing what they had for breakfast. 

Growing up here in Utah, my mom never bought cold cereal. We had a big family and so it wasn’t in the budget. She was also not big on sugar. We ate oatmeal with butter and milk. It is funny how you grow to like something from childhood later in life. My wife and kids are grossed out when I eat this breakfast now. 

My friend Steve had every cold cereal known to man. He ate a bowl of cereal for every meal of the day. When I went to his house, I was overwhelmed by the options. I thought frosted flakes was the nectar of the Gods. 

The only thing better was finding the crappy prize in the box. Some plastic toy that you would rip apart getting out of the package. 

The following is a list of cold cereals from the 80’s and 90’s. They were the place to market pop culture.

It fills me with joy to scroll through the different boxes. The only thing I wish is that I could see the back of the box as well. There has to be a maze or some word game to keep me occupied while slurping milk.
