St. George Is Now Utah’s Avalon, California
It is legal to take a golf cart out on the streets of St. George.
One of the charming things about visiting the city of Avalon on Catalina Island off the coast of California is the golf cart traffic. In Avalon residents can only drive golf carts. It is charming and makes for a unique island visit to the quaint town.
Well slide over Avalon St. George now has the same stamp of charm. OK, not the same, Avalon only allows golf carts, St. George is adding golf carts to the existing traffic.
Now before you try to merge your cart onto I-15 you should know there are some rules.
- The carts are only allowed on slower streets, think 25 miles per hour some connecting 30 MPH roads are also included.
- Drivers of the carts must be 16 years or older.
- The golf cart can only carry as many occupants for which it is designed.
- If you are driving at night the golf cart must be equipped with lights.
There should be some ruling included that if your swing is so erratic that you are looking for your ball on public streets you have to take golf lessons.
What do you think, is this a step toward St. George becoming Avalon, California? I doubt it too, it seems more like St. George embracing the fun vibe that it has always had with lots to do outdoors and a healthy population of fun-loving citizens who want to enjoy the beauty of Southern Utah.
So there you have it St. George, mount up and start cruising like they do in Avalon California on the island of Catalina.
