No Longer Considered a Noxious Weed

A hybrid type of Bermuda grass has been taken off the list of invasive plants by the Utah Department of Agriculture. This is big news if you would like to put in this grass that is soft to walk on and doesn’t require much water.

This isn’t the wild Bermuda grass that infiltrates your lawn and yard. This is used in the southern parts of the United States and has been further developed by a team at Brigham Young University.

They found the Hybrid Bermuda grass uses a lot less water. It took six weeks of not being watered before it started less green. It also does not spread like the common version of Bermuda and requires plug or sod to start it.

This Decision Means There’s Another Option Besides Artificial Turf

If you want some green in your yard but don’t want to constantly water and mow it, the only option has been artificial turf. This fake grass has gotten better and can look good with a some maintenance.

Now with the approval of this Hybrid Bermuda Grass, you can have a nice green lawn with little watering. It is often used in sports stadiums and golf courses in hotter climates. When it is mowed short it can look nice and is comfortable to walk on.
