4. Cove Fort Historic Site. Situated north of Beaver just off I-15. This impeccably preserved fort played a vital role as a way station along the Mormon Corridor, providing essential rest and support to weary travelers and pioneers on their challenging journeys. Check it out Monday – Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM. 

5. the Hole-in-the-Rock in San Juan County is a site of immense historical significance. In 1880, intrepid pioneers forged a path through the formidable cliffs, braving treacherous conditions to cross the Colorado River. I put this on because it’s amazing what they accomplished, but there is no visitors center or formal tour, only a dirt road to get there.
