News of a big data center moving to Millard County near the town of Fillmore surprised many in Utah. This will be the largest data center in the United States and will bring many high paying jobs with it. 

Weighing the Options of Living in a Small Town 

Many people say they would love the slower pace of a small town like Fillmore, but they may not mean it as there is a reason it is still small. Your dining, recreation, and shopping choices are limited without driving a couple of hours. 

On the other hand, the cost of living may be better and the outdoor recreation opportunities are hard to beat. Maybe the only thing holding you back from moving to a small town is high paying job opportunities.

Increased Industry’s Effect on Residents of Fillmore and Millard County 

In the story from ABC 4 there was some worry from local residents on water use for the large data center and how this big plant may bring more of the same to the area. It is always daunting to see things change rapidly wherever you live. 

More industry will increase the tax base and there will be more jobs for the children growing up in the county to stay and work rather than moving elsewhere. Everything has positives and negatives.
