3 Weird Cases in Utah of People Impersonating Doctors, Cops, and Firefighters
It is a crime to pose as a doctor, firefighter, or police officer in Utah for the purpose of intimidating or defrauding others. Yet, it often happens. Here are three of the weirdest cases that have happened in the beehives state.
Rapper Tries Side Hustle as a Physician
NBA Youngboy has a multi-platinum selling artist. His name is Kentrell Gaulden, and he has run afoul of the law over the years. One of those times happened last year when he called in prescriptions to Utah pharmacies impersonating a doctor.
The rapper would demand a prescription be filled for a patient and then send someone to pick it up. Pharmacists became suspicious when he didn’t use the right terminology. It’s not clear if he actually rapped when calling in the fake prescriptions.
Man Impersonates a Police Officer to Try to Get Into Prison
In 2024 a man went to an entrance reserved for police officers at the Washington County Correctional Facility. He told the guards on duty that he was with the Ivins Police and he had a man to bring in.
When they went to check it out they found Kyle Kittredge who said he hadn't claimed to be an officer and was just trying to visit his friend. Apparently talking through the glass during visiting hours wasn't enough.
Non Firefighter Shows Up at Multiple Scenes
A man was at a four alarm fire in Salt Lake trying to direct traffic. His name was Joshua Warren Murray and he was wearing bright clothing and carrying a BB gun. When officers approached him he said he was with the firefighters.
He wasn't and its not the first time he had shown up at a fire emergency. They noted he didn't try to "grab a hose or ladder" but was just directing bystanders. It gives you a glimpse into what real firefighters have to deal with.
