Louis Pasteur First Heated Wine with His Process

Pasteurization is when you heat a liquid to kill microbes and was originally done to wine in 1863 by its inventor Louis Pasteur of France. Eventually it was applied to milk that is briefly heated to 160 degrees as part of the process.

Some people feel that killing these microbes has had a negative effect on people’s health since then. They feel the body is weakened by not having these microbes. They site studies that show raw milk helped with asthma, allergies and other infections.
