There’s a new trend that is bringing wallpaper back. This way of decorating walls began in the 16th century, but it really came into its own much later. In the 70s it was common to see wallpaper in every room. Now this pasted paper is coming back.

Textured Ceilings Bring Character to a Room

Putting some texture on the ceilings like they used to do in old castles can make a room feel like it has depth. This isn’t the popcorn ceilings of the 1980s, but a decorative design with plaster.

A take on this idea is using wallpaper on the ceiling to accomplish a similar look. The plan isn’t to wallpaper from wall to wall, but to put a square in the middle that gives the room a certain feel. Often it is with rooms that have a dropdown near the walls.

Wallpapering a Ceiling is Harder Than Papering a Wall

Gravity works much harder on wallpaper hung flat on a ceiling rather than a wall. Especially if you use wallpaper with a lot of texture which will look great in the room and weigh heavily on the plaster.

The above video recommendations to help with this problem.

This isn’t something you would do in just any room. It would look great in a bedroom or dining room. Running it down a hallway would look weird, at least until someone makes it look good and starts a trend.
