What Does Walmart Sell the Most Of?

There are Walmart stores all over America and Utah is no exception. Dotting the beehive state are 41 Supercenters with everything from groceries, paint, garden supplies, car parts and much more. The giant retailer sells 75 million different products. What is the most popular item sold? 

The top-selling product at Walmart is, surprisingly, bananas! In a recent interview, McMillon said that Walmart sells "billions of bananas" (via Bloomberg). Bananas have been Walmart's top seller for years. 

America apparently loves bananas. It doesn’t surprise me. Whenever I’m walking through the produce section, there is an employee putting out more of those potassium packed fruit. 

Tracking What Individual States Buy

Walmart also sells a lot online, and they track what each location orders most. I would assume every state would order similar things, but what each state buys are different. Reader's Digest looked at what each state purchased the most in 2024. 

Texas was buying wall mounts for their TV's. Maybe put the remote down and go outside Texas. Pennsylvania bought plastic hangers and North Dakota went all in on watermelon flavored gum. That's kind of random.

Utah Here's What We Purchased Most.

Apparently we here in the beehive state were doing a lot of traveling and were worried about how we looked. Personal travel care kits were what we were buying online. Apparently we want to look good when we get to where we are going.

It's surprising that there is such a difference in what each state is buying. I would have thought we would be more of the same. At least when we are shopping in Utah, we probably look well cared for while doing it.
