The Fiber Factor: A Utah Doctor’s Key To Better Digestion And Wellness
Instead of taking fiber as a duty, try adding it as something your body enjoys.
I have always thought of fiber as a tool to get things moving when I felt bloated or heavy.
Recently I talked to a doctor that said fiber is the food that your stomach and bowel craves.
This information changed two things in my mind, one that the stomach and bowel is a part of me that needs attention. There are lots of things I do to take care of different parts of my body. I brush my teeth, stretch and work out for my muscles, but I usually expect the digestive system to serve me. I had not considered that I could be giving it a helping hand.
Secondly, fiber, instead of a last-ditch attempt to fix a problem, could be a simple element added to serve the digestive muscles. I like the feeling of nourishing my digestion in a proactive manner rather than starving it of what it wants until a problem arises.
I should also mention that I learned good hydration makes for a happy gut. Don't underestimate the power of a hydrated digestive tract.
I encourage you to reach for your fiber, whether it be supplemental, fiber rich foods, or just chewing on the bark of the tree in your backyard, (tree bark is not a good source of fiber for human beings, this was just an attempt at humor by the author. -The John Hiatt Legal Team). Try adding it to your nutrition regiment and see if a happy digestion doesn’t change your sense of wellbeing.
