The Best Backyard Addition in Utah for Kids and Grands
Make Your Backyard an Amusement Park
If you have young children or grandchildren like I do, this is the item at Costco that will make your backyard the place to be. It is the Step2 Classic Coaster Extreme and it is hard to beat for the price.
I have toyed with the idea of building a backyard roller coaster using PVC pipe. You can find several people who have built them on YouTube. This pre-made coaster is a whole lot easier with the same happy results.
On Costco.com you can find it now for $329. I saw it this spring and told my wife we should get it. It was on sale for $299 and when she saw the regular price, she was all in. She can't ever pass up a deal. We knew we were on the right track when my friend Keaton, who works at Costco, said his son tires himself riding it over and over.
What To Do If You Don’t Have Enough Room
This coaster features a race car that zooms down the track at a decent speed, but not dangerous. It does go an additional 30 to 40 feet, which was a problem on the deck I have in the back. With the limited room, the grandkids were going to plow into the tiki hut.
That is when I had the inspiration from the online coaster builds. I used PVC pipe to direct the wheels in a circle. It works beautifully and the true benefit of this design is the kids can push the car back to the top. They love it and soon wear themselves pushing it up and riding down.

Whoever designed the coaster did a wonderful job. It is sturdy plastic with simple instructions. I do have one complaint. The bolts included did not fit one section. I had to buy replacements at Ace. Still, this is what you need if you want your home to be the place to visit.
