Here’s One Simple Way to Make Your Animal Photographs Pop
If you have ever tried to take a picture of wildlife while out hiking, it doesn’t come out that interesting. Turns out you can take some amazing pictures of birds and other animals close to home that will stun your friends and family with just a few tips.
Good Wildlife Photos Come from Camera Position
This is from a wildlife photographer in Canada named Simon d’Entremont who takes stunning photos from the local duck pond. His tips are simple to follow and bring awesome results.
One of the reasons your wildlife photos look boring is because they look separated from the animal. A good picture sucks you into the world you're looking at. The reason you feel part of the action is the perspective it is taken from.

If you shoot a picture standing above the animal or below it the perspective makes it feel sterile. Wear clothes that let you get on the ground, so you are zoomed in on the animal’s world. This will make a big difference in how your photos come out.
Go to Where the Animals are Easy to Find
You can spend a lot of time hiking through Utah looking for big horn sheep, bear cubs, or roaming buffalo, but it might be easier to begin with the local duck pond. Here you will find plenty of birds that won’t fly away before you get your shot according to d’Entremont.
He shows how he gets the focus right and the background he wants and then waits for the duck to dip in the water or shake its wings. The photos he takes of a simple duck pond are stunning.
