You live in Utah, but you have never hiked one of the red rock canyons. Everywhere you look you see pictures of these amazing places with steep walls made of twisting orange rock. You have friends and family who rave about it and yet, you hate to hike.

The Awesome Canyon that You Can Drive Through

Here is the place where you can say you have been through a slot canyon without ever having to get out of your air-conditioned car. Well, you might want something with a little more clearance than a car as it is a dirt road with some steep inclines.

It is the drive through Long Canyon just outside of Moab. The road isn’t too intense and features some amazing views. The best part is near the end where you wind through steep canyon walls.

Where is Long Canyon

The road is north of Moab in Canyonlands National Park in the Sky district. It isn’t too long, just 7 ½ miles. It climbs up nearly 4,000 feet and offers amazing views with plenty of places to stop and soak it in.

The road is decent although you should check to see if recent rain has washed it out or made it impassable. Pucker Pass is the area where it gets kind of tight and was named appropriately. The one end of the road will give you views of the Colorado River.
