See the Place Selected As Utah’s Strangest Roadside Attraction
Roadside Attractions Make It Fun to Stop
If you want to see the largest seashell factory in world, it is just off the road in Florida. Idaho has the Spud Drive-in Theatre with a giant Potato out front. Car Henge in Nebraska is other worldly with silver painted cars standing on end in a circle like the famous one in England.
Taking a little extra time when driving on vacation can give you a chance to stop at historical markers, natural wonders, and weird roadside attractions. Every state has them, and Reader’s Digest compiled a list of the strangest in each state.
What is Utah’s Roadside Attraction from the List?
Hole in the Rock is a place outside of Moab and is worthy of the honor. It is a gift shop and house inside the carved-out rock. There is a petting zoo, a jeep made out of license plates, and the carved likeness of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the face of the red rock.
See the original homestead of the people who blasted out the rock and built their house in it. You can visit the people’s gravel inside one of the cutouts. There is a historical section with old neon signs, a mining exhibit, not to mention the gift shop with all kinds of goodies like fossils and magnetic stones.
