Really? Utahns Give Dumb Reason for Hoarding This
You probably have a drawer with old phone chords, even some former cell phones and cables that used to go to the TV. In a survey of the states with the most people who hoard old tech, Utah was number five in the nation.
What Reason Did Utah Give for Keeping Old Cables?
A company recovers old data for people did a survey to see where people lived who hung on to their old tech junk and it turns out that 94% of Americans say they have some of it stored in a drawer or box in the garage.
Some said they keep it around for nostalgia reasons. Others hope it will come back to being useful at some point. In Utah, many said they keep it around because at some point they regretted throwing something away that they needed later.
Um, I’m not buying it. I have used that excuse on my wife and she doesn’t believe it either. At some point you have to realize that satellite drilled to the roof is not ever going to be useful again. Mostly, I just don’t want to climb up there and unbolt it.
Other States High on Tech Hoarding
Oklahoma was the highest for keeping old tech around. In the article they point out that the state is shaped like someone holding a thumb drive. The next was Delaware, then Arkansas and of course the beehive state.
I like some of the reasons for holding onto this old junk. Some thought they could use it in an apocalypse. However, in Arkansas they said they try to reuse the stuff to build new things like circuit boards. This sounds like a redneck way of fixing things.
