Really? These are the Two State Parks in Utah that Made “the Best in the U.S.”
There are some amazing state parks in Utah that rival National Parks like Arches, Bryce and Zion. Outside compiled a list of the 18 Best State Parks in the U.S. and not surprisingly, Utah has two entries. However, they are not the two I would have picked.
Here's the State Parks in Utah Recognized as the Best
They numbered the best parks from 1 to 18 and at number two is Antelope Island State Park that sits in the Great Salt Lake. I don’t know if its spot on the top of the list means it is that good, but I would have picked several state parks in Utah above this one.
It is majestic standing out of the lake and the herd of bison and bighorn sheep are awesome. But for raw natural beauty and a destination place, Antelope Island is way down the list for me. It isn’t the first place I would recommend if someone were visiting.
At number 11 is Dead Horse Point State Park in the eastern half of Utah. This one I can appreciate. It has amazing views of carved canyons and rock formations that look like an alien planet. I would put other state parks ahead of it, but I’m good with it being on the list.
The Utah State Parks that Should Be on the List
Goblin Valley State Park is the top for me. This features a valley full of an army of standing hoo doos that make me feel like I am Frodo and Sam walking through Mordor. It is inspiring to look at, especially as the sun begins to set.
I would include Snow Canyon State Park and Kodachrome Basin State Park on the list as well. There are many other hidden gems in the beehive state including many of the reservoirs that are state parks.

Maybe I’m wrong. It has been a long time since I’ve been to Antelope Island. I would be interested if there is an amazing place missing from the list that most people aren’t aware of. State parks in Utah are an often an undiscovered treasure.
