Have you had trouble getting to sleep or waking up in the middle of the night and staring at the ceiling? A surprising device that makes it feel like you're sleeping under the stars claims to help. It has made a big difference since I got one.

No Wonder It Helps the Two-Year-Old Sleep

My wife and I watched our son’s daughter one weekend. She is two and along with diapers and yogurt in a pouch, he sent a star projector. This electronic device projects the Milky Way across the whole bedroom ceiling.

We put the pack and play in our room since we are not used to listening for little kid cries. My wife projected the stars above her head, and she went right to sleep. It was still on when we went to bed and it seemed like I was asleep the moment I put my head on the pillow.

Soothing to Look at Deep Space

My wife asked me the next day if I had slept well. I realized I had slept great. She said she had as well and wondered if it was because we were looking at the stars. It is soothing to look at and it slowly rotates in a circle.

The next couple of nights were the same. We projected the stars and had great uninterrupted sleep. When we returned our granddaughter to her parents along with the projector, we found ourselves slipping back to old sleep patterns so we ordered our own.

How Does it Work?

Maybe there is something primal about seeing the night sky that the body responds to. Perhaps it is the way it slowly rotates and maybe it is all in my mind. All I know is it has improved our snooze.

There are many versions available. We bought the Fussion Planetarium Projector. It comes with different possible projections including the earth and the moon. Some of the other options are too bright and feel like you are sleeping under a streetlight.

We like the night sky with stars the best. It also has a timer that turns off after a couple hours. It may be worth a look if you have trouble sleeping.

From scandalous bikini calendars to your dad's AMC Gremlin, '80s garages were a treasure trove of adventure, good fun, and sometimes downright danger.
