Pieology Pizzeria on River Rd in Red Rock Commons in St George has closed its doors. People looking for lunch were surprised to find the location was no longer in business. Turns out this may have been coming for a while.

Franchise has Found Success Since 2011

The first Pieology was opened in Fullerton California and featured handmade pizza designed by the patron. The successful concept was franchised and went on to open over 100 locations all over California and beyond.

The St. George location opened in 2018 and was initially successful. They weathered the pandemic in 2020 and looked to be headed for growth. Since then, there have been struggles with the corporate office taking over the St. George location.

Now the decision has been made to close the location permanently. There have been other Pieology franchises that have closed over the last five years.

Reason Given for Closing Locations

There have been several locations that have been closed since 2018. However, this has been true for many restaurants during that time. When Pieology closed some of these locations they said they were restructuring how franchises would work.

They also pointed to rising rent and lease agreements. This may have been part of the problems faced by the St. George location. It has been hard for many restaurants with rising costs due to inflation while trying to keep their food affordable.
