Easier to Be Active if Your City Has Active Places to Visit

WalletHub has a new comparison of cities that looked at 35 factors that promote or provide opportunities for people to live a lifestyle that is physically active. Things like the number of gyms, walking trails and parks were all factored in.

They looked at 100 cities and ranked them based on these factors. Honolulu, Hawaii was number one followed by New York and San Francisco. These cities all seem close to the coast and maybe that helps with the mindset.

Even though Utah has many outdoor opportunities, there wasn't any city from the beehive state on the list.

How Did the Cities in Nevada Do?

Number four on the list was Las Vegas which seems pretty good except at number 100 right at the bottom is North Las Vegas, not good at all. What is going on here? Is everyone from the north side heading south to do something active?

To further complicate things, Henderson, Nevada is right in the middle at number 50. All of these cities are close together and it is hard to get a handle on if moving to the Las Vegas Valley is a good place for an active lifestyle or not.

Apparently, Las Vegas has more playgrounds per capita and that helped boost the ranking. North Las Vegas was at the bottom with budget and participation and near the bottom for sports and outdoors.

So, if you live in Las Vegas and love an active lifestyle, you may want to watch out for those coming from the north who want to crowd your playgrounds.
